Patience is a virtue; that's what they say. I don't know who 'they' are, but it is NOT a virtue to me!
Although my patience wavers depending on circumstance, surroundings, people or issues involved, I know this is an area that I still need growth. I want to have more patience than I do... I pray for more patience than I have. I pray that as I get older and live through more life experiences, my patience will continue to be tested and strengthened.
Although my patience is not the greatest, I do have some patient tendencies: like when I have to wait for a class of 21 students and they aren't getting quiet, or when I have to wait on the phone for over 20 minutes to have a two minute conversation with a phone rep, or when I am waiting in line at a store to check out... you get the picture. But then there are the times when my patience is not the greatest and I'd rather not get into that. ;)
So today my prayer is one of thanksgiving for the amount of patience that I have been given, and it is one of thanksgiving for self control (which helps me respond appropriately when my patience is tested and I have to continue waiting).
"We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so that you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father."-Colossians 1:11-12
