True Happiness: A Sense of Peace

"Happy are those who respect the Lord and obey Him. You will enjoy what you work for, and you will be blessed with good things." --Psalm 128:1-2

I came across this verse in my devotional the other day and found myself pondering on how great it is. I truly believe that I am happy. Content. Satisfied. There are so many wonderful blessings working in and through our lives on a daily basis. Even as I prepare for another busy day in the classroom on this Wednesday morning, I find myself at a certain sense of peace. I am happy with where the Lord has me in this moment. After all, our lives are a string of moments... beautiful moments, waiting to be found, viewed and appreciated. Enjoy your beautiful day!

My 'not greatest' attribute

Patience is a virtue; that's what they say. I don't know who 'they' are, but it is NOT a virtue to me!

Although my patience wavers depending on circumstance, surroundings, people or issues involved, I know this is an area that I still need growth. I want to have more patience than I do... I pray for more patience than I have. I pray that as I get older and live through more life experiences, my patience will continue to be tested and strengthened.

Although my patience is not the greatest, I do have some patient tendencies: like when I have to wait for a class of 21 students and they aren't getting quiet, or when I have to wait on the phone for over 20 minutes to have a two minute conversation with a phone rep, or when I am waiting in line at a store to check out... you get the picture. But then there are the times when my patience is not the greatest and I'd rather not get into that. ;)

So today my prayer is one of thanksgiving for the amount of patience that I have been given, and it is one of thanksgiving for self control (which helps me respond appropriately when my patience is tested and I have to continue waiting).

"We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so that you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father."-Colossians 1:11-12

Be Still...

And know that I am God. -- Psalm 46:10

This may be one of my most favorite worship songs. It provides me with a sense of closeness with my Heavenly Father that not all songs can. It is such a beautiful thing to be a christian and be able to worship our sovereign Lord. My heart smiles when I sit in peace and breathe this song in... I hope yours does to.

February Love

Today I'm thankful for my crazy, busy, joyful, loving family and friends. I had a great weekend with some of my family (immediate and extended) and enjoyed my time with them so much. The week has been busy and I have been very bad at blogging lately; I am not spending my time forgetting my blessings, but instead savoring them! Life is good.

-Praise the Lord oh my soul- Psalm 103:1
