I, for one, am so glad that we are encouraged to use the Sabbath as a day of rest. I'm grateful that I am busy and that my time seems to be filled with encouraging and exciting events, but today I'm especially thankful for Sundays (the day of rest).
Isn't it so great to get a day of rest in our busy weeks? My day of rest included: getting groceries, prepping for our supper meal, washing the bed sheets, doing school work, reading my bible, watching the Vikings, having coffee and a walk with a good friend, enjoying supper with my husband, my favorite ice cream for dessert, and now I'll enjoy an evening television show. Ahhh... starting the new week, and new month, refreshed!
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. --Genesis 2:2

Autumn Evenings
I was lucky enough to have a few spare moments between coming home from school (work) and getting ready to go to youth group at church last evening. I decided to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the park on a beautiful fall evening. Many times when I walk I am with someone else, or using my phone to stay in touch with a friend. Last night I decided to {be still}.... no company, no phone, just me and God. It was a BEAUTIFUL evening. I was enjoying the colors that early fall has to offer, enjoying the quiet that the evening was bringing, and appreciating the beauty that God has surrounded me with. It made me not only appreciate the beauty that He creates each morning with a new fall day; I was also able to appreciate my ability to know that I needed some quiet time with God.
I'm thankful today for wisdom and discernment. I know that I could use more and more of both of these attributes, but I am thankful for the amount that I do have. I felt refreshed and rejuvenated for my evening after I was able to bask in God's presence for a while. He is good! As I was walking, my head kept leaning towards a verse we all know so well, "Praise the Lord, my soul, and let all that is in me praise His Holy name!" I was so content!

My love...
I simply could not let this weekend pass without blogging about my wonderful husband, Jordan. I can't believe how extremely blessed I feel to be married to my best friend! Jordan is such a kind, loving, supportive man. He is heading towards the end of his chiropractic schooling and has a lot on his plate with school alone. He works so hard to get the knowledge and practice that he needs for his future as a Chiropractor. He has many assignments, tests, activities, clinicals, etc. that he fills his weeks with. However, despite his busy schooling schedule he still makes me a priority. I love him! Here's a great example of the type of things that my husband does for me.
This weekend we were working on cleaning, cooking and organizing around our home. Jordan knew I was looking forward to spending time with him because he was very busy last weekend taking his second set of boards. He made a point to get most of his homework done on Friday so that we could spend more time together over the weekend. Saturday morning we ran errands and loaded up on groceries and household goods. When we got back home, I started to clean our closet and he began concocting a homemade salsa. We were having friends over for supper so I decided to run to the gym and get my workout in while he was using the kitchen (our kitchen is not too big for two people). When I got home, roughly an hour and twenty minutes later, my servant husband had cleaned the ENTIRE kitchen (including the floors and wiping down the appliances), had vacuumed the floors and was in the middle of cleaning the bathroom! The Bathroom!! I'm telling you, my husband is the GREATEST! Anyways... we were able to hang out during the afternoon and prepare our home for our friends with the nitty gritty cleaning out of the way. I appreciate all that Jordan does for me and I do not take for granted how lucky I am to have him in my life.
Today I'm grateful that God blessed me with my best friend and husband, Jordan. I don't know what I'd do without him and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather walk through this life with!
The following is one of the scripture verses that we used at our wedding.
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And always be thankful."

Rest and Relaxation
It's Saturday again! How can that be?!?! It really is amazing how quickly the weeks fly by. This is of course a good, and a bad, thing. We are doing a sermon series at church about how to use our time... investing it in things that are good for our soul and trying to knock out those ways that we can so easily waste our time. As I reflect on the idea that time is fleeting and we don't get back any of our yesterdays, I realize how grateful I am that my yesterdays are not filled with much regret. Like any human, of course I wish I could go back and do/say something differently, but I do not dwell on what has come and gone as much as I could and for that I am thankful!
I am trying so hard to enjoy each moment (day) as it comes because I realize how quickly they come and go. Although there were some 'lows' in my week, overall I had a wonderfully 'normal' week! I am really loving my new class this year and appreciate that I have a job that I enjoy. I have been able to spend some quality time with my husband now that his second set of boards are out of the way. I had a few evenings of church activities/small group to fill my spirit and I'm sitting on the chair with my warm cup of coffee awaiting a brand new, crisp fall day. Life is great! These simple days are truly the best!
I hope you all find rest and relaxation in your weekend and peace in your hearts for these 'simple' fall days! Maybe you'll even get so lucky as to have a warm apple crisp baking in the oven today. :)
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." -- Romans 15:13
