Soooo grateful

For this life I live... And all those I share it with!

Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.

Today is the day...

...that the Lord has made. I will REJOICE and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24

It was a really great winter day. I, for one, welcomed the snow with open arms as it was falling before Christmas and on a weekend that we didn't have any travel plans. My day consisted of staying in bed with Jordan for a good hour or so after we woke up, talking about our day, goofing around and laughing. When we finally mustered the energy to get out of bed, I was able to talk my wonderful husband into taking me to a favorite bakery for a breakfast treat! We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city after the first snow. When we got back home, we moseyed on to the gym for a couple hours. Jordan enjoyed playing hoops, while I found multiple things to keep myself busy with.

After a light lunch and a short couch break, we headed to the grocery store to pick up holiday baking items! I was so excited to buy things to prepare for holiday baking. Tomorrow is supposed to be a snow day... what a great day to stay home, in my jammies, and bake!

We headed to church with family and friends and enjoyed the simplicity of holiday carols and the story of Joseph. What a great reminder to s.l.o.w...d.o.w.n. and enjoy the season.

It was a really, really nice (normal, nothing special) kinda day! I love these days... I really am 'having the time of my life'.

I pray God's Blessing on you and your holiday season as well. The journey is so bittersweet and the anticipation is so great... Open your hearts; find love!

Good Men

It would seem natural to have my next blog be about the men that walk beside the 'fab four'. These men are wonderful! I can't express how blessed I feel to have four wonderful grandfathers in my life. We have had a few cancer scares with some of these men, too. As scary as it is to have these encounters, it helps remind me of how lucky Jordan and I are to have them in our lives.

The four grandfathers are great examples of loving husbands and kind souls. It is quite coincidental that all four of our grandfathers happen to be hilarious, too. At least they try to be ;) They all enjoy having a good time and love to make other people laugh.

I have such fond memories of my two grandfathers from when I was a young girl. I remember driving through Montevido with my grandpa Olson to the grocery store or the convenience store and having to 'push' the truck up the steep hill in town. Of course I also remember him dressing up on Christmas Eve and getting chased by my brother and cousins. We also used to dance together every chance we had. My grandpa loves to dance and we shared in his enjoyment of dancing as we grew. My grandpa Willand used to come and spend time with us four kids when my mother and father went out of town. I remember him spending time with us indoors and outdoors while he was with us. He taught us a lot about the farm even though ours was much different than his farm was. Us girls LOVED playing with grandpa's hair and putting our clips and barrettes in his hair after dinner; and he let us! What wonderful memories I have with these two amazing men!

Although the next two grandpa's came into my life at a much older age, I still have such fond memories with them, too. Grandpa Wager LOVES to play cards. I will always think of him whenever I play 'dummy rummy'. He enjoys to play, and he does not have a hard time giving me (or anyone else for that matter) a hard time about how we are playing the game! He has a great sense of humor and I always seem to laugh when we are with them. Grandpa Doc has taken me in as his only 'granddaughter' and I feel that he really, truly thinks of me as one. I love the way this man cares for his family. He takes great pride in what he has and the people dearest to him. I am proud to be part of his family and love him like one of my own. These two men complete my 'fab four' on the gentlemen side of our grandparents. How truly blessed we are!

Today I am grateful for the lives and shared memories with LeRoy, Merlin, Paul and Charles 'Doc'.
